AeroPress Americano
Coffee is more than just a morning ritual — it’s a moment of mindfulness, a pause in the rush of the day, and an invitation to savor the present. At Sage Haus, we believe the art of making coffee can be just as meaningful as the first sip. That’s why we’re sharing Wyatt’s AeroPress method: a simple yet precise approach to brewing the perfect cup. Whether you're a seasoned coffee enthusiast or just starting to explore beyond your drip machine, this step-by-step guide will help you craft a brew that’s as thoughtful as the spaces we love.
INGREDIENTS & PREP
40g whole coffee beans
185°F water (boil & let cool slightly)
AeroPress with paper filter
Grind Beans: Grind 40g of beans to a medium-fine consistency, suitable for AeroPress.
Prepare Filter: Place a paper filter into the filter attachment, rinse with hot water, and set aside.
Set Up AeroPress: Attach the plunger and chamber parts, standing the AeroPress upright with the chamber on top.
Add Coffee: Pour the ground coffee into the chamber, then gently shake to level the surface.
Add Water: Place the AeroPress on a scale, zero it out, and pour 165g of hot water slowly and in a circular motion over the grounds.
Stir & Steep: Stir gently for about 5 seconds to blend the coffee and water. Attach the filter cap securely, ensuring the plunger is inserted at least ½ inch into the chamber to create a vacuum. Let the coffee steep for 1 minute.
Flip & Settle: Place a cup over the filter cap, hold the AeroPress and cup firmly together, and carefully flip them over. Place the AeroPress on a countertop and swirl gently if needed to re-mix the grounds. Let sit for 30 seconds.
Press: Press the plunger down with gentle, steady pressure until you hear a hissing sound, indicating the last bit of air has pushed the brew through the coffee bed.
Clean Up: Remove the filter cap, press the plunger fully to eject the coffee puck into the trash, and scrape off any remaining grounds. Dispose of the paper filter.
Dilute & Enjoy: Place your brewed coffee on the scale, add 185g of hot water, and let cool to a comfortable drinking temperature. Enjoy!
