Oktoberfest Chicago
Prost to Oktoberfest!
Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending one of my favorite events—Oktoberfest Chicago’s Craft Beer Night—hosted at St. Alphonsus in Chicago’s Lakeview Neighborhood.
Walking up to the prominent building located at the six-way intersection of Southport, Lincoln, and Wellington, I couldn’t help but be excited for the evening. Despite the heavy rains, the greeters were exceptionally pleasant & ushered us to the church where we were gifted with our pretzel necklaces & souvenir tasting glass.
Down the stairs into the church’s basement turned beer hall, we were greeted with a grand room filled with German & Bavarian Flags. At the center of the room were 40 beer options ranging from American seasonal craft and European speciality beers, highlighting both German-style beers as well as favorite fall seasonal selections. A sucker for an Oktoberfest beer, I enjoyed a Burnt City brew, and I even stepped out of my comfort zone to try Ballast Point’s Woodford Reserve Barrel Aged Sea Monster. I definitely went back for seconds on both.
The music-filled evening brought in people wearing lederhosen & festive attire to celebrate one of my favorite celebrations of fall and all things Bavarian.
An attendee of Oktoberfest Chicago since 2013, I can’t wait for next year!
