Chicago Boutiques: The Best Local Shops for Unique Finds

Shopping isn’t always my favorite pastime, but when it comes to discovering unique, locally owned gems, I can’t resist. These Chicago boutiques are worth exploring in person — but luckily, you can shop most of them online too!

Alice & Wonder

📍 956 W Webster Avenue — Lincoln Park

📍 3542 N. Southport Avenue — Lakeview

I’d say I have quite a versatile style, and this Lincoln Park boutique has my heart — and my wardrobe. Whether I’m searching for a chic band tee, the perfect summer uniform, or playful accessories, Alice & Wonder always delivers. While my beloved Windy City tee is no longer available, they still have a great selection of Chicago-themed items & clothing that feels just as special. Down the street from their newer Southport Corridor location, you’ll find their sister store, Mini Wonder. It’s is my go-to for adorable newborn gifts — perfect for the little ones in your life!

Foursided

📍 2958 N Clark Street — Lakeview

📍 5061 N Clark Street — Andersonville

I’ve been visiting Foursided for years, and the Lakeview location feels like home. It’s my go-to for thoughtful gifts, quirky greeting cards, and eye-catching prints. I’ve spent countless hours here browsing their unique finds, and their custom framing has elevated more than a few of my favorite pieces in our condo. This is where functional meets fun — every corner holds a little treasure.

Penelope's

📍 1913 W. Division Street — Wicker Park

Penelope’s will always be a part of my Chicago story. Back when I was 22 & navigating my first “real” job, I made the rookie mistake of commuting in heels that were way too high. One particularly painful day, I hobbled into Penelope’s on my lunch break, desperate for a solution. That’s where I found a pair of brown leather boots that saved my feet & my sanity. This boutique is a must for stylish, comfortable clothing, accessories, and thoughtfully curated home goods. While those boots have since retired after almost a decade of service, my love for this shop hasn’t.

Humboldt House

📍 1045 N. California Avenue — Humboldt Park

Humboldt House is a true hidden gem. I first discovered it thanks to a client’s condo that featured a stunning triangle mirror in the primary bathroom. Determined to track it down, I ended up at HH — & what a discovery! The shop is a treasure trove of local & emerging Chicago makers, eclectic textiles, and even a hint of magic (as locals say). It’s the perfect place to find something unique for your space — or to spark a little inspiration for your own design projects.

Fleur

📍 2651 N. Milwaukee Avenue — Logan Square

Walking into Fleur is like stepping into a dreamy oasis. This Logan Square floral shop specializes in stunning arrangements, unique plants, and an array of carefully curated gifts. Whether I’m picking up a bouquet for a special occasion or treating myself to a little greenery, Fleur never disappoints. Their candles, stationery, and home décor items are equally swoon-worthy, making it one of my favorite places for thoughtful gifts—or just a little self-care.

Festive Collective

📍 2651 N. Milwaukee Avenue — Logan Square

Festive Collective is pure joy in boutique form. A few stores down from Fleur, this colorful Logan Square shop is a treasure trove of party supplies, quirky gifts, and whimsical home décor. From funky balloons to retro-inspired trinkets, it’s the perfect place to find something unique to elevate any celebration. Bonus: Their seasonal décor is next-level — it’s like Christmas exploded, in the best way possible.

Una Mae’s

📍 1528 N. Milwaukee Avenue — Wicker Park

Una Mae’s perfectly blends vintage charm with modern style. Located in Wicker Park, this boutique is known for its effortlessly cool clothing, accessories, and home goods. Every time I step inside, I find myself rethinking my utilitarian work wardrobe — it always inspires me to add something fresh & unique to my style. Whether I’m browsing their racks of boho-inspired pieces or uncovering a one-of-a-kind vintage treasure, it’s the kind of shop that makes you slow down & savor every detail. I can’t help but leave feeling inspired — and with a new favorite find in hand.

The Center of Order & Experimentation

📍 1727 W. Grand Avenue — West Town

I stopped by The Center of Order & Experimentation this week & absolutely fell in love. Located in West Town, the shop hits the perfect mix of function, design, and fun. From minimalist home goods to well-crafted stationery & unique design pieces, everything feels intentional & sparks a nostalgic kind of joy — like the ornate, food-inspired candle line crafted in Italy since 1840. With Monday Coffee brewing in-store, it’s the kind of place where you linger — & inevitably leave with something you didn’t know you needed.

Merz Apothecary

📍 4716 N. Lincoln Avenue — Lincoln Square

Merz Apothecary is a small escape into the timeless craft of self-care. Established in 1875, this Lincoln Square landmark offers an extraordinary selection of natural remedies, luxurious self-care essentials, and global specialties. From herbal teas & artisanal soaps to apothecary-style skincare and rare fragrances, every item feels curated with intention. Whether you're replenishing your wellness routine or searching for a meaningful gift, Merz is a reminder that care — both for yourself and others — can be an art form.

My Modern Oasis

📍 2418 W. North Avenue — Humboldt Park

Located in a historic Humboldt Park building, My Modern Oasis is a 2,400-square-foot showroom blending vintage furniture, antique treasures, contemporary art, and handcrafted pottery into beautifully curated spaces. The gallery-like atmosphere encourages lingering, exploration, and inspiration. Every piece tells a story, connecting design traditions of the past with modern creativity. From statement chairs to timeless ceramics, the collection offers something special for design enthusiasts and collectors alike. Open Fridays through Sundays, My Modern Oasis is more than a boutique—it’s a platform for local artists and the community, hosting talks and events that make it a hub of artistic energy.

EMBRH

📍 1421 N. Paulina Street — Wicker Park

EMBRH is a reflection of its owner, Alina Cervantes — a gifted esthetician with a deep love for all things beautiful & intentional. Tucked away in Wicker Park, this boutique showcases her expertise in skincare alongside a selection of unique treasures, home fragrances, and one-of-a-kind finds. Her carefully chosen skincare products show her dedication to quality & care, while her collection of home fragrances creates an inviting & personal atmosphere. The shop also highlights work from local artists & makers, making it a true expression of creativity and connection. Open only on Saturdays from 12 to 5 pm, EMBRH offers a curated experience worth carving out time for.
