195 Mooregate Trail is particularly special to me as it’s Jim’s childhood home and the home his father built & mother designed together.
A storybook tale, Jim’s mother (Cheryl) & father (also Jim) met as kids in their childhood neighborhood of Edison Park. A committed pair, the two dated all throughout their youth and eventually married after high school. With two kids and another on the way, Jim & Cheryl decided to build a custom home together with ample space for their growing family out in Hawthorn Woods, a quiet northwest suburb of Chicago filled with beautiful foliage.
With four children, the home was always bursting with energy and quickly became the launching pad of all of their activities—kids running in and out of the house to play with the neighbors, Cheryl driving the kids to and from their nearby sports practices & after school activities, sharing their home with friends and family & just living their lives to the absolute fullest.
The Murray home has not only watched as my husband and his siblings grew up but also as they added new additions to their family, welcoming spouses and five grandchildren into this love filled home.
Sitting at the kitchen table and looking out into the backyard, I’ve realized this home has also created many memories that I’ll cherish forever. I’ll miss watching deer graze on grass and cranes raising their own as we’ve sat and ate family dinners at the kitchen table. I’ll miss the big Christmases Cheryl & Jim would host with Santa making his annual visit to bring presents for the kids by the fireplace. I’ll miss the annual Easter egg hunts in the backyard. I’ll miss watching my husband help his father around the house or the garden while my mother-in-law and I would cook a meal together. We’ve all created a lot of memories here.
While there’s so much that I’ll miss, I’m also so excited to meet the next family that has the pleasure of calling 195 Mooregate Trail their home. I know they’ll have their own story to write that’s filled with loving memories of their own.
